National Republican Congressional Committee targets Castor's Tampa Bay seat

The GOP’s congressional campaign arm announced Monday that it’s adding Tampa Bay’s 14th Congressional District to its target list of seats it wants to flip in the midterms.
Eight Republican candidates are vying in a primary to be the one to take on incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor of Tampa, whose once-blue district now excludes Pinellas County and leans red after Gov. Ron DeSantis pushed for rare mid-decade redistricting.
The open race for District 22 is also being targeted by the National Republican Congressional Committee. The district, which used to be in Palm Beach County, now includes parts of Palm Beach, Broward, Hendry and Collier counties.
“Florida is ground zero for Republicans to grow our House majority in November,” NRCC spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole said in a statement. “Floridians are sick of the radical extremism from Kathy Castor and her fellow out of touch Democrats, and voters in these Trump-won districts are ready to elect commonsense Republican leadership.”
The committee is also targeting Florida’s 9th District, an area south of Orlando, and U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz’s run for the 25th District in South Florida.
