Biden to speak at Maryland Democrats' midterms preparation gala

BALTIMORE — Former President Joe Biden will keynote the Maryland Democratic Party’s 2026 Fight Back & Win Gala, the party announced Friday.
“It’s going to be a special night, and I’m honored to spend it with the folks who are fighting to move Maryland — and this country — forward,” Biden said in a statement.
The June 27 event at Maryland Live! Casino in Hanover comes days after the state primary elections.
Gov. Wes Moore praised the former president’s support of the Francis Scott Key Bridge rebuild and the Frederick Douglass Tunnel replacement in West Baltimore. The original Key Bridge contractor, Kiewit Infrastructure Co., was dropped from the project’s second phase last month, casting doubt on the timeline and budget for the rebuild.
“Alongside President Biden, we were able to deliver real results for real people across Maryland, and we are thrilled to welcome him back,” Moore said.
Party officials said the gala will follow an inaugural summit, intended to prepare for the 2026 midterm elections.
