Trump to hold Michigan midterm rally as early voting begins

DETROIT — President Donald Trump will hold a rally in Michigan's St. Clair County roughly 10 days out from the Nov. 3 election.
The event, the exact location of which is not yet clear, will take place the afternoon of Sunday, Oct. 25, according to information from the Trump 47 Committee. The Detroit News reported earlier this week that Trump was likely to visit the border county.
The rally comes as Michigan's U.S. Senate race between Republican former Congressman Mike Rogers and Democrat Abdul El-Sayed continues to garner nationwide attention.
Additionally, Michigan voters will choose the next governor, secretary of state, attorney general, and every seat in the state House and Senate. Michigan also has at least three competitive U.S. House seats in play in the 4th, 7th and 10th Congressional districts.
St. Clair County typically leans heavily Republican and is part of GOP U.S. Rep. Lisa McClain's House district. McClain won her 2024 race by 37 percentage points.
The rally will occur a day after early voting starts in Michigan and after President Barack Obama is scheduled to campaign in Detroit for Democratic candidates on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Trump's last visit to the state occurred in July, when he spoke at the General Motors Proving Ground facility in Oakland County.
Vice President J.D. Vance visited the state Thursday, Oct. 16, where he called El-Sayed a "weasel" during a rally in Monroe.
Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Curtis Hertel criticized Trump's upcoming visit to St. Clair County as an attempt to "bail out" Rogers and Republican gubernatorial nominee John James.
"Michiganders know full well the economic damage Trump inflicted on our state, and like folks all across Michigan, I’ll be watching the Lions play the Packers that day, rather than listen to the man who screwed us over and drove up prices," Hertel said.
