Kimberly Guilfoyle will leave Athens with 'burn book' on Trump family, report says

Kimberly Guilfoyle may have announced her resignation Tuesday as U.S. ambassador to Greece over an expanding corruption scandal. But so far she hasn’t left.

The disgraced, short-lived diplomat has yet to vacate the elegant, official ambassador’s residence in Athens, the Daily Mail reported. Guilfoyle is “gripped by the mounting paranoia” that accompanied her desperate scramble to save her job, the Daily Mail also reported.

The New York Post, however, said that the former San Francisco prosecutor, conservative firebrand and one-time member of President Trump’s inner circle will soon pack up and return to the United States, probably to Florida.

And, in the wake of her dramatic downfall, Guilfoyle is considering whether to get even with members of the Trump family, including her ex-fiancé Donald Trump Jr., for appearing to turn their backs on her, the Daily Mail reported. She could do so by revealing family secrets she has recorded in a “secret burn book.”

Outside the White House Tuesday, Trump seemed eager to distance himself from his oldest son’s ex-girlfriend by denying a reporter’s assertion that she was “almost a member of his family.”

“No, she wasn’t a member of my family,” Trump said. “She, I guess, dated my son a long time ago.”

But Trump’s attempts to downplay Guilfoyle’s closeness to him and his family won’t stop her from “threatening” to release contents of the diary that Trump family insiders are dubbing “The Devil Wears MAGA,” the Daily Mail reported.

“Having her back in America would be a nightmare,” one source told the Daily Mail. “Kimberly knows where the bodies are buried. She knows the people, the secrets, the fights, the relationships. Nobody wants an angry Kimberly back home with nothing to lose.”

The 57-year-old ex-wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom became a fixture in Trump’s inner circle after she began dating Trump Jr. in 2018, during his father’s first term. Together, Guilfoyle and Trump Jr. became a MAGA power couple and known as two of Trump’s visible supporters and fundraisers. They became engaged in late 2020 — after she gave a notoriously loud and enthusiastic speech on behalf of Trump at the 2020 Republican National Convention and before she joined the president in pushing his false claims of election fraud at his Jan. 6, 2021 rally, which led to the attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Even after Guilfoyle and Trump Jr. broke off their engagement in late 2024, and he began dating his future wife, Bettina Anderson, the former Fox News host appeared to maintain close ties to the Trump family, the Daily Mail reported. News of the breakup came around the same time that Trump nominated her to become ambassador.

But Guilfoyle’s stint as ambassador only lasted only 11 months before reporting by the Wall Street Journal and the Daily Mail revealed that she had allegedly been using her position for personal gain and engaged in alleged misconduct, in order to enjoy a lavish lifestyle while working for the U.S. government.

The alleged misconduct that garnered the biggest headlines involved claims by Erik Deters, a prominent former MAGA donor from northern Kentucky. Deters shared Signal text messages with the Wall Street Journal that showed Guilfoyle begged him to pay her $100,000 American Express bill ahead of her Senate confirmation hearing, while she promised to help him get access to Trump officials who could help him with some legal and IRS business.

The White House on Tuesday confirmed Guilfoyle was asked to resign, following reports that Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were “extremely pissed off” by her alleged antics. The State Department has launched a review of the misconduct allegations, while congressional Democrats want to launch investigations if they take power after the midterm elections.

In announcing her resignation on X, Guilfoyle expressed her “unwavering gratitude and respect” for Trump and said she will always be his “loyal supporter.”

She also insisted the accusations were “false” and vowed to “vigorously defend my name, my reputation, and my integrity.”

But behind the scenes, insiders told the Daily Mail that there was an effort to keep Guilfoyle in her job in Athens and protect her from further scrutiny over her conduct as ambassador. That’s because, contrary to what Trump said, she was very much inside the Trump family and its political operation.

“Kimberly knows everything,” the insider said. Another source added: “Keeping Kimberly happy keeps Kimberly quiet.”

As damaging revelations about Guilfoyle began to pile up in the Wall Street Journal and Daily Mail, she also tried to hold onto her job and began calling administration officials and people close to the president, playing down these reports and asking for their support, the Wall Street Journal reported.

When the Journal published the story about her soliciting $100,000 from Deters, Guilfoyle allegedly told White House officials that the text messages cited by the news outlet were AI-generated.

Amid concerns over what Guilfoyle could reveal about the Trump family, friends of her ex-fiancé expressed relief that he got out of his relationship with her before these scandals hit, the Daily Mail reported. One friend even insisted that he never actually proposed to Guilfoyle. She, instead, bought herself an engagement ring and began wearing it — prompting him to allow her to release a statement announcing their engagement.

It’s believed that Trump Jr. actually ended his relationship with Guilfoyle months before they officially announced their breakup. Two months before the 2024 presidential election, the Daily Mail published photos of Trump Jr., 48, hanging out with the younger Anderson and reported that Guilfoyle had been “blindsided” by the news that he was moving on.

These Trump family insiders also said that Trump didn’t nominate Guilfoyle to be ambassador to Greece because she had expertise in European geopolitics or because she possessed particular diplomatic skills. “It solved a complicated personal problem,” an insider said. “Having her thousands of miles away worked for everyone.”
