Joe Battenfeld: Democratic Party revenge tour is on
Published in Op Eds
Petty, vindictive Democrats celebrated their midterm blue wave by pledging to torture Donald Trump and potentially ride him out of the White House — no matter what the cost to the country.
The Democratic Party revenge tour is on, promising to paralyze the government for the next two years.
If the Democrats are going to follow spiteful Sen.-elect Abdul El-Sayed’s example, they will be nauseatingly arrogant, self-absorbed and totally non-responsive to questions they don’t like.
“They are going to need new forests for all the subpoenas we’ll be printing,” newly re-elected 80-year-old Sen. Ed Markey gleefully proclaimed.
Other top Democrats warned Republicans to “lawyer up” and talked about impeaching Trump and aimed to “go after the corruption” in the administration.
If there is such a thing as sore winners, that perfectly describes the Democratic Party after their coast-to-coast thumping of Republicans and takeover of Congress.
“MAGA extremists are on the run from sea to shining sea,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said. “Donald Trump is shook right now…America is back.”
Liberal CNN commentator Van Jones boasted: “I’m happy Donald Trump is miserable.”
Expect two years of Trump investigations, blocking every appointment in sight, and targeting Cabinet members like Pete Hegseth.
Selfish Democrats are emboldened to make Trump as weak as possible with no consideration as to the impact on the nation.
They ran on fixing the economy but are more focused on demolishing the Republican president.
Voters will be shocked at how low they will go, like El-Sayed of Michigan, who celebrated his victory by taunting Vice President JD Vance for having to swear him in.
“JD, habibi,” El-Sayed said, using an Arabic term of endearment. “There is this delicious irony in the fact you’re constitutionally obligated to swear me in in January.”
The only wrinkle in all the celebrating is that Democrats could soon be consumed by an internal power struggle and infighting within the party.
Their victory dance could be short-lived if they are bitterly split going into the 2028 election.
A half-dozen Democratic Party socialists won seats in the House — Darializa Avila Chevalier and Claire Valdez in New York, Melat Kiros in Colorado, Angela Gonzales-Torres in California, Chris Rabb in Pennsylvania and Donavan McKinney in Michigan. They be joining socialists Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, who are already in the House.
The extremist contingent will wield outsize influence in the next Congress and push Democrats even further to the left. They also could determine the next Speaker of the. House.
None of the socialists have pledged to support Jeffries yet.
Looking ahead to 2028, some prominent and powerful Democrats may be unelectable.
El-Sayed won Michigan, but what would his appeal be nationally? He would be sunk. Even AOC is moderating and trying to pull back from the far left.
People will get sick of the new Michigan senator sooner rather than later. If Trump has an oversized ego, it’s nothing compared to El-Sayed’s.
