Democrats Are the Party of the Rich Because They Represent the 40 Congressional Districts With Highest Home Values!

The 40 congressional districts in the 116th Congress that had the highest median values for their owner-occupied homes were all represented by Democrats.

In fact, during that Congress, only 10 of the 100 congressional districts with the highest median owner-occupied home values were represented by Republicans.

The U.S. Census Bureau released data last week from its American Community Survey that included the "median housing value of owner-occupied housing units" in each of the nation's 435 congressional districts from the 116th Congress (which ended in January 2021).

Twenty-seven of the 40 districts that had the highest median home values were in California. Another seven were in New York; three were in Washington state; two were in Hawaii and one was in Massachusetts.

Four of the six richest congressional districts in the country -- when measured by median home value -- were in the San Francisco Bay Area. The other two were in Los Angeles.

The district with the most expensive homes was California's 18th District, which included the southern end of the San Francisco Peninsula, part of the Santa Clara Valley, and the Santa Cruz Mountains that stretch westward from Santa Clara to the coast.

 

In that congressional district, according to the Census Bureau, the median value of an owner-occupied home was $1,702,700.

The rich people who lived in that district did not elect a conservative -- or a Republican -- to Congress. They elected Democratic Rep. Anna Eshoo.

What does she believe in?

Last June, when the Supreme Court released its opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which overturned Roe v. Wade, Eshoo became a leader of the movement to codify Roe and legalize abortion nationwide.
