Shania Twain shares secret to happy marriage

Shania Twain has described her husband Frederic Thiebaud as her "forever true love".

The 60-year-old ssinger was left heartbroken in 2008 when her 14-year marriage to 77-year-old record producer Robert 'Mutt' Lange collapsed after she discovered his affair with her close pal-and-former personal assistant, Marie-Anne Thiebaud. However, Shania grew close to Marie-Anne's former spouse, 55-year-old businessman Frederic, as they healed from the heartbreak caused by their exes' infidelity.

Now Shania has insisted Frederic is the one and he would have been her "lifelong love" even if they had met at teenagers instead of later in life. She told PEOPLE: "[He is my] forever true love ... This is the love I'm going to grow old with and it's a beautiful feeling.

"I'm sure we'll always have romance, but there's a depth and a gratitude that I have about having this love. And if I [had] met Fred as a teenager, I do believe that he would have been my lifelong love even from then. It just takes sometimes years to find that person."

Shania went on to credit Frederic with keeping their relationship on track because he's such a good communicator.

She told the publication: "He's really good at reminding both of us that we have to keep communication open. He's the greatest talker, and he's not inhibited at all with expressing his feelings, which is really wonderful in a man.

"If you have a man that is really open and wants to keep the communication open, you're blessed as a woman."

She added: "[I'm] a good communicator ... [but I] meditate over the issue, take a walk or be alone with my guitar if I'm having a marital issue. Fred wants to talk about it. He wants to talk it through, and he wants to fix it. And that's the best advice. I mean, he's not wrong."

Shania previously opened up about her marriage in a candid interview with The Sun newspaper, saying: "I think love is a scary thing and it's all about risk, as you just don't know where it's going to end up, do you?

"You have to enter it as a risk-taker, so if you're not in the spirit or the mood of taking chances, then maybe it's not the right time in your life to fall in love or to get involved.

"But sometimes love is such a strong attraction you just can't help yourself. So I think that is the moment where you have to just let go and throw in the towel to any reluctance or self-protection. You just have to be vulnerable."
