Demi Lovato has become "accustomed" to partying without alcohol.

The 33-year-old star has been open about her past addictions to alcohol and drugs and says it is now "second nature" for her to hit the town without feeling the need to drink.

Demi told People: "I've just become so accustomed to it that it's second nature for me. I haven't drank for so long, so I don't even remember what it was like going out drinking."

The Here All Night singer explained that she surrounds herself with "the right people" on nights out.

Lovato said: "I would never go out without my friends. I think that would probably make me a little anxious.

"I like to avoid having social anxiety as much as possible, so making sure you have the right people around you, and of course you have to have some sort of beverage in your hand, whether it's a water or a Caliwater (cactus water) or something else.

"I love a mocktail, and you know what? (Caliwater is) great for making mocktails, too."

Meanwhile, Demi cancelled five shows on her upcoming It's Not That Deep Tour earlier this month in order to "protect (her) health".

The Sonny with a Chance star announced on her Instagram Story: "My Lovatics - I'm so excited to get back on stage this year and visit you in as many cities as I can.

"While starting to prepare for the tour, I realised that I have overextended what may be possible.

"To protect my health, and ensure I can give you my all at each show, I need to build in more time to rest and rehearse and ultimately adjust to a schedule with some more time off that will allow me to handle the entire run of the tour."

As a result, Demi will no longer perform in Charlotte on 8 April, Atlanta on 12 April, Nashville on 14 April, Denver on 5 May, or 8 May in Las Vegas.

She added: "I am so sad to say that I will no longer be able to see you on this tour and I am so sorry to those who planned to be there."

In addition, the Confident hitmaker's concert in Orlando has been moved from 10 April to three days later on the 13th, where the tour will now "kick off".
