NEW YORK — “Good Day New York” host Rosanna Scotto struggled to control her emotions on her first day back to work after her mother’s death.

Scotto announced the death of her mom, 90-year-old Marion Scotto, in an Instagram post last week saying the “proud mother of four children” who opened the popular Midtown restaurant Fresco by Scotto in 1993, had died.

On Tuesday, the tears came when the 68-year-old broadcaster heard the B.J. Thomas tune “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” during a Monday morning weather report.

“My mother would kill me right now if she saw me crying on the air, so we’re going to get it together,” she told viewers.

She said that 1969 Burt Bacharach song recorded by B.J. Thomas for the “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” soundtrack, made her think of her parents.

Her colleagues showed their support as Scotto wiped away her tears and moved forward with the broadcast.

Scotto recorded an Instagram message thanking fans for their support during her time of grieving.

“We’re back in the saddle,” she said. “Mom would’ve wanted that.”

Scotto said that when her father, Anthony Scotto, died in 2021, her mom had the whole family report to their restaurant the same night.

“I’ve taken more time than she would have allowed if she were around,” Scotto confessed.

Scotto was raised in Brooklyn’s Bay Ridge neighborhood. In addition to her four decades on Fox 5, she’s involved in running Fresco by Scotto. She has also played a news reporter in films including “Ghostbusters” and “The Paper.”
