New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani has joked about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's upcoming wedding.
The celebrity duo are expected to tie the knot at Madison Square Garden later this week, and Mamdani has claimed that the loved-up couple are setting "a good example" for "the city at large".
During a press conference about a heatwave in New York, a reporter asked: "Outlets are confirming that Taylor Swift's wedding is happening at MSG this Thursday and Friday. Anything you can share on that?
"And to that point, should New Yorkers be aware of street closures that we saw during the Knicks games and watch parties and those types of things?"
Mamdani, 34, then replied: "My recommendation to all New Yorkers is to stay inside and stay cool. And if you happen to be getting married at Madison Square Garden, you will be staying inside and you will be staying cool. And I think it's a good example to set for the city at large."
Mamdani also joked about Taylor's wedding in a video posted on social media.
The mayor said: "Here's what you should know about the historic heat wave headed our way. Especially if you're (hypothetically) having your wedding at MSG this weekend.
"We are entering what could be the most extreme heat wave this city has seen in over a decade. It can hit 100 degrees, with temperatures feeling as hot as 112 and staying hot into the weekend.
"We're ready, but we want to make sure you are too. Especially if you're celebrating the World Cup or the Fourth of July, or renting out MSG to get married, hypothetically."
Mamdani also discussed Taylor and Travis' wedding while talking about preparations for the soccer World Cup.
The mayor - who is a huge soccer fan - said at the time: "We are the biggest city in the country. We are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for this one.
"We know it coincides with the Knicks' Finals run. We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift's wedding -- all happening at the same time --and we are so excited to welcome the world here."
