Backstreet Boy AJ McLean reveals he is moving from Vegas to NYC

NEW YORK — Backstreet Boy AJ McClean will soon swap Las Vegas living for New York City in support of his dancer daughters, he announced at a recent show.
“I’m about to become a resident of your beautiful city,” he told a crowd of captivated A-listers who had just rocked out with the 30-year-old boy band at Uber’s World Cup kickoff party on Saturday.
“Both my daughters do competitive dance. And they’ve got into a pretty awesome dance school here,” he explained. “So Daddy will always follow my daughters wherever they want to go to follow their dreams.”
Though the singer, actor and director has called Las Vegas home for the past few years, he has teased a New York move before. In 2022 McLean let slip that Broadway was “No. 1 on my bucket list” and said he planned to move to NYC to pursue that dream.
He mentioned his daughters’ dance dedication back then, too, telling People the move would enable them to attend “really awesome dance schools in New York,” and noting, “They’re both mini-me’s. They love to perform.”
McLean, too, studied dance as a child, according to “Backstreet Mom: A Mother’s Tale of Backstreet Boy AJ McLean’s Rise to Fame, Struggle with Addiction, and Ultimate Triumph,” the 2003 memoir penned by his mother, Denise I. McLean.
In May, 2024, McLean snared a snippet of Broadway stage time, joining the cast of “& Juliet” to lead an audience-wide surprise post-show singalong.
McLean is no stranger to going personal onstage. Back in 2010 he proposed to then-girlfriend Rochelle Deanna Karidis from the stage of the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel’s Wasted Space nightclub during his 32nd-birthday celebration, according to IMDb.
Karidis said yes, and they wed the following year, but separated in 2024. Their two daughters, 13-year-old Elliott and 9-year-old Lyric, are still the glue holding the estranged parents together.
Saturday’s party for Uber One members was mobbed with celebs who danced and partied the night away on a moonlit Pier 36, entertainment website The Knockturnal recounted. Among the famous faces spotted were the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Andy Cohen, Ciara with Russell Wilson, Amy Schumer, Grace Gummer, Este Haim and many more, the website noted.
