Christina Applegate has kept 'dry, sarcastic humor' during MS battle

Christina Applegate has managed to keep her "sarcastic, dry" sense of humor during her "extremely difficult" battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
The 54-year-old actress was diagnosed with the lifelong autoimmune condition, which can cause muscle weakness, vision changes and extreme fatigue, back in 2021, and has largely stepped back from the limelight since.
She hasn't been seen on the red carpet for the past few years, with her Married… With Children co-star David Faustino giving an update on how she's getting on during an interview with Us Weekly.
He said: "It's extremely difficult for me to understand having a debilitating disease. I can't. I don't know what that's like. I can only go from her experience and what she's told me.
"I admire her being strong in the face of this, even though it's been a real blow. It's been very hard for her, but she does keep her humor."
Christina played Kelly Bundy on the US sitcom, with David taking on the role of her brother Bud.
He said that her "dry, sarcastic sense of humor" has been there since the first day he met her, and has helped her in her health struggles too.
Insisting Christina is still "extremely sarcastic, extremely dry," he added: "She gets through this with some humor, and that's kind of her way that she moves through it."
He concluded by saying that he's there as a "support" for Christina, calling himself "a person on her team that gives her as much love as I can".
The pair have kept in touch since co-starring on Married… With Children, which wrapped in 1997 after 10 years.
Christina has been open about living with MS through interviews and her podcast, MesSy, which she co-hosts with 44-year-old Jamie-Lynn Sigler - who was diagnosed with MS in 2002.
In March 2025, Christina revealed she ended up in hospital more than 30 times with "unimaginable" pain with her MS.
She said on her podcast: "This is really important because for three years, since I was diagnosed, I've been in the hospital upwards of 30 times from throwing up, diarrhoea and pain that is unimaginable.
"They've done every test known to man on me, put so much radiation into my body from CT scans to everything else."
