Bob Seger rereleases vintage music video, drops summer playlist
Published in Entertainment News
DETROIT — Bob Seger is back with a fresh take on a vintage music video.
On Friday, the rocker's camp released a freshened up music video for "American Storm," marking the clip's first digital release. It is now streaming on Seger's YouTube page.
The performance-style music video was originally released in 1986, and was one of two videos made for the song.
The other video mixed the original's performance footage with clips that featured James Woods, Randy Quaid and Lesley Ann Warren. It was cut to resemble a music video made for a feature film, except there was no feature film it was attached to. Fun fact: the fake movie scenes in the video were directed by Brian De Palma, the legendary "Scarface" and "Carrie" director.
"American Storm" was the first single from Seger's "Like a Rock." The single made it to No. 13 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, while the "Like a Rock" album made it to No. 3 on the Billboard 200.
The other singles released from "Like a Rock" were the title track, "It's You" and "Miami."
"Like a Rock" celebrated its 40th anniversary in March, and his legendary live album "Live Bullet" turned 50 in April. Seger himself turned 81 in May.
In other Seger news, the rocker's 1994 "Greatest Hits" set is currently back on the Billboard 200. The set is No. 135 this week, down a spot from last week, and has spent 618 weeks, or nearly 12 years, on the chart.
Seger's official Spotify page has also released a new playlist that compiles 17 of Seger's greatest hits. The playlist, titled Bob Seger Sweet Summertime, is now available to stream.
