'MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE'

Rated PG-13 for sequences of violence/action, some suggestive material, and language.

What it’s about: A reboot of the iconic '80s cartoon made with bigger spectacle and more self-awareness.

The kid attractor factor: The fantasy/adventure setting and spectacle.

Good lessons/bad lessons: The power is within you, and it's not just brute force, it's communication and empathy.

Violence: Violence, fighting, and action throughout — nothing gory.

Language: No swearing but some raunchy jokes that will likely go over kids' heads.

Sex: Suggestive/sexual jokes.

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: A bit violent for young children. OK for older kids and teens

'POWER BALLAD'

Rated R for language throughout and some drug use.

What it’s about: A washed-up musician in a wedding band contributes a chorus to a hit song and seeks credit for it.

The kid attractor factor: This is more of a movie for adults.

Good lessons/bad lessons: We have to find contentment within ourselves, not externally.

Violence: A fall, some scraps.

Language: Swearing throughout.

Sex: Suggestive scenes and references.

Drugs: Copious marijuana use onscreen.

Parents’ advisory: Fine for teens, essentially fine for older kids if they are interested.
