Pete Davidson's pals jump to his defence after his ex Elsie Hewitt claimed she is bringing up their daughter 'alone'

Pete Davidson's friends have rallied around the comedian to insist he is looking after his ex and their baby following reports of his split from Elsie Hewitt.
The comic, 32, who welcomed his daughter Scottie Rose with actress Elsie, 30, in December, are said to have ended their relationship earlier this month following what sources described as ongoing difficulties balancing Pete's work commitments with life as new parents.
Elsie has since shared emotional social media posts about raising their baby daughter largely "on my own", prompting sources quoted by Page Six to jump to Pete's defence.
One insider said to be close to the pair told the outlet Pete had continued financially supporting Elsie and their daughter despite the split.
The source added: "Pete has been paying for everything related to Elsie and Scottie, including the rent, their living expenses, their health insurance."
They added: "They may have split but all he wants is for Elsie to be happy and in a good place."
The source continued: "(Pete's) main priority right now is making sure that Elsie and Scottie are looked after, so it's utterly confusing to everyone who knows them why she would possibly post anything about him not supporting her.
"Obviously they have had personal disagreements and there has been a breakdown in the relationship but he is fully committed to being a good dad."
The insider also disputed suggestions circulating online Pete had failed to support Elsie financially.
They said: "That's not the reality at all. The truth is he is actually paying for everything."
The source added: "Pete is doing everything to be super supportive to Elsie, he's changed his schedule, and done everything he can to be there physically and financially so Elsie can feel supported."
Elsie, 30, shared a now-deleted Instagram Stories post over the weekend in which she asked followers for recommendations for an assistant or nanny.
She wrote: "I'm currently trying to find an assistant / mother's helper / nanny type / basically [a] right hand person.
"Apply here if qualified and serious. Only looking @ responses with resumes. ($ of course.)"
The actress also appeared emotional in a TikTok video posted on Friday.
Elsie whispered: "I have a baby to take care of. I have to work and make money. I'm doing it on my own, which is hard."
The video prompted mixed reactions online, with some social media users expressing sympathy while others defended Pete.
One commenter wrote: "Very unfair to have to do this alone."
Another replied: "Unfair? the baby's father is in her life and he also has a job."
