Pamela Anderson is reportedly making room for love in her life amid growing speculation linking the Baywatch star to Tom Cruise following her acclaimed Hollywood comeback with The Last Showgirl.

The actress, 58, has spent the past two years rebuilding her screen career through a series of critically discussed projects, including Gia Coppola's The Last Showgirl, which reignited awards-season attention around Pamela after decades in the spotlight as the face of Baywatch and cult films including Barb Wire.

Rumours surrounding Pamela and Tom, 63, emerged after reports claimed the Mission: Impossible star had been impressed by her performance in the film.

The speculation follows a period of renewed attention on Pamela's career after the success of her Netflix documentary Pamela, A Love Story and the Broadway revival of Chicago, both of which prompted a reassessment of her public image and acting career.

A source said Pamela was making room for love in her life again, adding to the Daily Mail it came after a "few busy years proving herself".

Another insider told the National Enquirer Tom had taken notice of Pamela after seeing her work in The Last Showgirl. They said: "The movie got people to see Pam in a very different light, including Tom. They've been in touch ever since."

The source added: "(There's) definitely a spark."

The insider also claimed: "People have noticed it and mentioned it to Tom."

Pamela was most recently linked to Liam Neeson, 73, her co-star in the Naked Gun movie reboot.

Romance rumours surrounding the pair intensified during the film's promotional tour last summer after the two appeared affectionate during interviews and red carpet appearances.

At the time, sources told Page Six Pamela and Liam were "figuring things out".

In December, Pamela addressed the speculation directly and confirmed the pair had briefly dated after production on the comedy had ended.

She told People: "We were romantically involved for a short while but only after we finished filming."

Pamela also said: "I'm sure we'll always be in each other's lives."

Liam, best known for films including Taken, Schindler's List and Love Actually, starred opposite Pamela in the reboot of the Naked Gun comedy franchise originally led by Leslie Nielsen.

Tom, meanwhile, remains one of Hollywood's most closely watched stars following the continued success of the Mission: Impossible franchise and ongoing anticipation surrounding the actor's next projects after Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning.

Recent reports on his love life linked Tom to actress Ana de Armas, 38, with claims the pair dated for several months before reportedly separating in October.

According to reports, Ana became "uncomfortable" with "how fast things were moving in their relationship".

Pamela has spoken openly in recent years about reclaiming control of her image after decades of tabloid scrutiny during her marriage to Tommy Lee, 63, and the fallout from the release of the couple's private sex tape in the 1990s.

Her documentary Pamela, A Love Story revisited the period while also addressing the success of Baywatch, which turned Pamela into one of the most recognisable television stars in the world during the 1990s.
