NEW YORK — “The Bear” stars Jon Bernthal and Ebon Moss-Bachrach — currently performing together in a Broadway adaptation of “Dog Day Afternoon” — got their own episode of the Hulu hit Tuesday, when the streamer dropped a surprise flashback episode.

The Emmy winners, both 49, again teamed up to co-write and star in the episode, “Gary,” which “takes place a few years before the opening of ‘The Bear,'” according to a description.

The hourlong special “follows Richard ‘Richie’ Jermovich (Moss-Bachrach) and Michael ‘Mikey’ Berzatto (Bernthal) on a work trip to Gary, Indiana.”

“The Bear,” set to return in full later this year, centers on a chef, Carmy (Jeremy Allen White), returning to Chicago to take over the sandwich shop left to him by his late brother, Mikey.

“This. F–er. Slaps. I promise. Couldn’t be more proud. … GARY. TRUST ME. big love y’all,” Bernthal captioned a selfie of the pair Tuesday.

“We are so excited to finally share this little adventure with Richie and Mikey. … Making this was a dream come true,” Moss-Bachrach captioned a promo still from the episode.

The series, which debuted in 2022, was renewed for a fifth season this past July, shortly after Season 4 arrived late the month before.

Though the upcoming premiere date remains unclear, Jamie Lee Curtis — who stars as the Berzattos’ alcoholic matriarch, Donna — announced on Instagram in February that the show was ending.

Bernthal and Moss-Bachrach are currently starring in a limited-engagement run of “Dog Day Afternoon” at the August Wilson Theatre.

They debuted, respectively, on March 30 as Sonny Amato and Sal DeSilva, in roles originated by Al Pacino and John Cazale in Sidney Lumet’s 1975 classic.

Frank Pierson took home the best original screenplay Oscar for the '70s flick, which was also nominated for best picture — losing out to “The Godfather Part II” — and which popularized the phrase, “Attica! Attica!”
