You have questions. I have some answers.

Q: Do you know when “The Righteous Gemstones” will be starting again?

A: The fourth season of the comedy from Danny McBride will arrive March 9 on HBO, with streaming following on Max. HBO says that in this last season for the show, “the family’s codependence is tested as they attempt to move forward without letting go of their storied past.”

The next question contains a spoiler if you have not yet watched the series finale of “9-1-1: Lone Star.”

Q: The ending was satisfactory in so many ways, except one: Where was Trevor during Tommy's battle with cancer? Why didn't the final episode wrap up the Tommy/Pastor Trevor love story, perhaps with a glimpse of their wedding? Yes, the episode dealt with Tommy's late husband, Charles, appearing (apparently in Tommy's dreams or in some fantasy scenarios), but I was so hoping Tommy and Trevor would marry.

A: “Lone Star” had only 12 episodes in its final season, shorter than usual, and showrunner Rashad Raisini told EW.com that with more time the Tommy/Trevor story might have gone longer before their breakup. Still, Raisini said, “I've always believed that Charles was the love of Tommy's life.” The series made that even more evident in the final two episodes, where Tommy (Gina Torres) talks with her late husband (played by Derek Webster). To bring up Tommy’s relationship with Trevor would have undermined those touching moments with Charles.

Q: I’m 92 and have been trying for some years to identify a movie from near the end of World War II, with a scene of soldiers on a train, where one soldier begins singing “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms” and the other soldiers join in. It was in a feel-good family film, not a war movie per se. I’d love to know the movie’s name.

A: That was “The Human Comedy,” from 1943, with Mickey Rooney and Van Johnson, and written by William Saroyan and Howard Estabrook. You can find the scene you remember on YouTube at Leaning on the Everlasting Arms - Van Johnson (The Human Comedy).

Q: I keep looking for news about a third season of “World on Fire” on PBS, but no information is ever available. Could you please tell me it didn’t die a quiet death? I really enjoy the show.

A: Unfortunately, the series from the BBC was canceled after two seasons. The Telly Visions website, which focuses on British TV, said the “profoundly ambitious,” globetrotting series "was, in many ways, a victim of the pandemic. … (since) filming across continents meant that its production was shut down far longer than most between Seasons 1 and 2, and in the interim, it lost its marquee stars, Sean Bean and Helen Hunt. While the show tried to find ways to mitigate the losses and, in some places, arguably upgraded (the Egypt-set storyline was especially affecting), it wasn't enough to overcome the four-year gap between airing Seasons 1 and 2.”

A recent column about viewers’ TV peeves generated a lot of new gripes. Among them:

Q: This one has bothered me watching winter Hallmark movies. When the main character is traveling, only a small carry-on bag is visible. However, during the movie, she manages to wear three to four (per my count) different winter coats or jackets! Just wondering how she manages to pack all of those in addition to the multiple outfits worn.

A: I’ll second that and throw in how in snowy towns, characters never seem all that bundled up.

Q: Why is it that in police shows ("FBIs," "Chicago P.D." and others), the police officers in the cast never wear helmets when they are going into a volatile situation like a shootout or breaking into a crime scene with weapons drawn? The supporting officers (who are not the stars) — SWAT, etc. — always wear helmets. I know it is for visual effects, but it isn't reality.

A: And it's especially jarring when the helmetless stars are the first ones through the door.
