SAN DIEGO — BEAT, the King Crimson offshoot band that performed launched in 2024 and features two alums on the pioneering progressive-rock group, is returning for an extensive 2026 North American tour. It will open with three dates in California and conclude in early December with concerts in Los Angeles and Riverside.

The group features two former King Crimson members, guitarist and singer Adrian Belew and bassist and Chapman Stick player Tony Levin. They are joined by guitarist Steve Vai, a new Rancho Santa Fe resident, and new drummer Terry Bozzio, who is best known for his work in the 1970s with Frank Zappa’s band.

Bozzio is replacing original BEAT drummer Danny Carey whose obligations with his longtime band, Tool, prevent him from playing on the upcoming BEAT tour.

BEAT was formed with a very specific musical mission: To revisit and expand on stage the music from the three 1980s King Crimson albums that featured Belew and Levin — “Discipline,” “Beat” and “Three of a Perfect Pair.”

The band played two 2024 San Diego concerts at Humphreys, both sellouts. The band’s 31-city summer tour of Europe concluded July 23 in Oslo, Norway.

Tickets for BEAT’s upcoming 40-city North American tour go on sale to the general public on Friday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. local time. An artist and promoter’s presale will run through 10 p.m. local time on Thursday on tickemaster.com. The password for the local presale is: GV2026.
