Television Q&A: Will there be a regal sequel to 'Red, White & Royal Blue'?

You have questions. I have some answers.

Q: Is Prime Video planning a sequel to “Red, White & Royal Blue”? The storyline in the original movie hinted that there might be one.

A: A follow-up to the gay rom-com is on the way, although there’s no airdate yet. It’s called “Red, White & Royal Wedding.” Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez reprise their starring roles from the first movie, along with other returning stars. Jamie Babbit (“Best Medicine,” “Only Murders in the Building”) is directing, with a script by Matthew López (who also co-scripted “Red, White & Royal Blue”), Casey McQuiston, author of the original “Royal Blue” novel, and Gemma Burgess. McQuiston has reportedly said the new movie is “a couple degrees spicier than the first movie. The intimacy is kind of dialed up in a way that is really beautiful and really fun to watch.”

Q: I'm looking for a series of about six episodes about wheel makers. One of the episodes was “Manifest Destiny” and another was “Ghost Dance.” Any idea of the name of the series and how to find it?

A: That is “Into the West,” a 2005 miniseries about two families, one white, one Native American, in the 19th century. The huge cast includes Josh Brolin, Zahn McClarnon, Gary Busey, Jessica Capshaw, Keri Russell and Keith Carradine. Steven Spielberg was an executive producer. It has been released on DVD, and you may be able to find that in your local library.

Q: I have a question about a scene in one of the “Godfather” movies which I have not seen since I originally saw the movie. The scene is when Fabrizio locks up a store and goes into his car which blows up when he starts it as retribution for killing Michael’s wife in Italy. I have watched all three movies and have not seen that scene again. I am curious as to what happened to that scene or if I am confusing it with another movie.

A: There is such a scene, although it was not in the theatrical cuts of the movies. You may have seen it in one of the reedited and expanded versions of the films such as “The Godfather Saga,” a 1977 TV miniseries derived from the first two “Godfather” films. It has also been a DVD extra, including in “The Godfather: The Coppola Restoration.”

Q: I was wondering what’s going on with “Poker Face” on Peacock. The first season was great, not so the second. Then I thought I read it was canceled but picked up with another star.

A: The mystery series starred Natasha Lyonne for its two acclaimed seasons. Peacock then canceled it, reportedly because of declining audience numbers. But series creator Rian Johnson (the “Knives Out” movies) has tried to keep it going, this time with Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”) as the star. (Lyonne told the Hollywood Reporter that she wants to focus more on directing movies.) Still, it’s a wait-and-see situation on whether the show will get a new home.
