NEW YORK — Singer Lauren Bennett, famous for her contribution to the 2011 LMFAO song “Party Rock Anthem,” has died.
Bennett’s death was announced by her former G.R.L. bandmates on Instagram.
“Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us,” past members Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen wrote.
No cause of death was mentioned. Reports listed her age at around 37.
“Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved,” her former colleagues added.
G.R.L. lost bandmate Simone Battle to suicide in 2014. The band launched in 2011 hoping to replicate the success of the Pussycat Dolls. Both groups were created by choreographer Robin Antin. G.R.L. split in 2015.
“Rock Party Anthem” was a Billboard chart topper for LMFAO. That dance music duo consisted of musicians Sky Blu and Redfoo, who was the son of Motown Record founder Barry Gordy.
Bennett, who’s from England, also worked with the the international girl group Paradiso Girls. They recorded with artists including Lil Jon, Pitbull and Eve. That band— also put together by Antin — enjoyed success with the 2009 hit “Patron Tequila.”
Antin celebrated her 65th birthday on Instagram Monday, where she also posted a short video of Bennett performing and prayer emojis.
Bennett launched a solo career in 2010. Artists including CeeLo Green and will.i.am helped with that undertaking. An inquest into her death is slated for October, according to USA Today.
