Gene Simmons not slowing down as he approaches life's 'finish line'

Gene Simmons has no intention of sitting on his thumb and "waiting to die" as he approaches his "finish line".

The KISS rocker got philosophical as he chatted to Bill O'Reilly on his We'll Do It Live! show on Thursday (25.06.26), and reflected on how his outlook on life has changed as he's aged.

The 76-year-old said that his biggest advice to peers is to "use it or lose it" and "get up every day and pump that heart".

He said: "A lot of people, a lot of seniors just give up, it's over. But I think they're missing the point.

"Don't you speed up instead of slowing down? If I see the finish line, I've only got two, three, a year left. You know, you speed, what are you going to do, sit on your thumb and wait to die?"

While Gene acknowledged that a lot of people do that, he added that they're probably "sad".

He explained: "They won't be able to sleep at night. They'll get heart troubles. The best thing to do is keep pumping that heart, kiss a pretty girl, eat a good meal, sleep a good night's sleep, and get up at the crack of dawn the next day and just keep moving."

Gene will be turning 77 this August, and told O'Reilly he's feeling "more ambitious and semi-possessed" than ever.

In another interview, this time with AZ Big Media, Gene reflected on one of the questions he seems to get a lot these days - namely why he still chooses to perform.

He hit back: "I'll ask Paul McCartney the same thing. 'You've been in the Beatles and Wings, and you keep going out there and playing.' Then I ask Springsteen, and Rod Stewart.

"The obvious answer is, 'We love it.' There's a magic that happens on the stage or in the patois of the street for [the heck of it]. There's a magic with the band and fans.

"It's tough to have a party by yourself. You can buy your Diet Coke and potato chips and put on music, but if you're the only one in the room, that's not much of a party.

"We're social animals!"
