Didi Conn says the cast of Greece connected by "having fun and being horny" on set.
The 74-year-old actress played Frenchy in the iconic 1978 musical, and she has recalled how the cast had a "unique" process for building up their chemistry as a group.
She told PEOPLE magazine: "What happened was most of us were a tad older than the teenagers we were playing.
"And so, we did a very interesting thing. As soon as we got our makeup on, our hair, whatever, we became the characters we were playing.
"So nobody called me Didi. I was Frenchy. There was Stockard [Channing] but that was Rizzo."
Didi, who appeared in the cast alongside the likes of Stockard, Jeff Conaway, John Travolta and the late Dame Olivia Newton-John, revealed that the approach had the desired effect.
She recalled: "What happened, our relationship to each other began to form and it was great.
"And it gave us the license to be these crazy high school kids and having fun and being horny or whatever. We just had a wonderful time."
It's been decades since the musical, which featured songs like You're The One That I Want, Beauty School Dropout and Summer Nights, hit the big screen.
However, Didi revealed the cast are still close.
She added: "And honestly, at the end when we say we'll always be together, we still are. We're all still friends."
Back in 2023, Didi opened up about her friendship with Olivia and recalled a poignant chat they had when the late star was being treated for a broken leg in hospital shortly before she lost her battle with cancer.
Didi told the New York Post's Page Six: "We spoke like once a month or so. She was in the hospital at the time [we last spoke]. She had broken a leg and didn't even notice. Like, her bones were just cracking...
"She [Olivia] said: 'What?! Why didn't you tell me [you had been ill]?' And the next day, I got this beautiful orchid plant."
However, Didi saw a bad omen when one of the orchid's flowers dropped three days before her friend's death last August at the age of 73.
She added: "Three days before she died one of the orchid flowers fell down and my heart stopped. I said, 'I hope that's not a sign.' "
