'Elf' actor Faizon Love arrested in Florida
Published in Entertainment News
Faizon Love, an actor who appeared in movies like “Elf” and “Couples Retreat” has been arrested in Florida.
Love was taken into custody Tuesday in Hillsborough County and booked into Orient Road Jail in Tampa on two counts of contempt of court, jail records show. While authorities have not said what triggered the arrest, TMZ reported that the charges appear to be connected to a paternity case involving the actor.
According to court records cited by People, a woman named Tiffany Lee reopened a declaration-of-paternity case earlier this month involving Love. Further details were not provided.
The actor and comedian is being held on no bond, and it’s not the first time he has been on the wrong side of the law.
Back in 2017, Love was accused of assaulting a valet at John Glenn Columbus International Airport, WBNS reported. They apparently had an argument before Love attacked him near the baggage claim area. Love pleaded no contest and he received a suspended sentence of 180 days and a $500 fine. Then, in 2024, Love was accused of assaulting a hotel worker in San Diego.
In a lawsuit filed last year, the plaintiff alleged that Love became “agitated and aggressive” upon learning there were no available rooms at the city’s Sheraton Hotel, Entertainment Weekly reported. She said he “forcefully ripped the credit card reader off the counter and hurled it at” her, “striking her on the right side of her head.”
Love launched his onscreen career in 1992, when he appeared in the film, “Bebe’s Kids.” He went on to work with filmmaker Robert Townsend in “The Meteor Man” as well as his television series “The Parent ‘Hood.” Love is perhaps best known from playing the grumpy Gimbels department store manager alongside Will Ferrell in the 2003 holiday hit “Elf.” He also later worked with the movie’s director, Jon Favreau, on movies including “Made” and “Couple’s Retreat.”
His most recent credit is for the 2023 film “The Last Stop in Yuma County.”
