MINNEAPOLIS — Dearly beloved, we will gather in downtown Minneapolis to serenade Prince.

It’s Prince Week again, time for concerts and celebrations at Paisley Park, his home and Minneapolis, his hometown. The highlight of this year’s festivities will be a block party and sing-along in front of the seven-story Prince mural on Saturday, the eve of what should have been the singer’s 68th birthday.

The free event will run from 2-10 p.m. at the intersection of 9th Street North and First Avenue. Minneapolis officials have dubbed the event a “city-sponsored love letter to Prince’s impact, music, fans, family, musical collaborators and community.”

If you’d like to join in, there’s still time to brush up on the lyrics to “Little Red Corvette.” Here’s the planned setlist for the two-hour sing-along.

—“Purple Rain — Version 1″ (from the movie “Purple Rain”)

—“1999″

—“Kiss”

—“Raspberry Beret”

—“Let’s Go Crazy”

—“Happy Birthday”

—“Little Red Corvette”

—“When Doves Cry”

—“Baby I’m a Star”

—“The Most Beautiful Girl in the World”

—“Sometimes It Snows in April”

—“Nothing Compares 2 U”

—“Purple Rain — Version 2″ (from the album “Purple Rain”)

The sing-along will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
