Mandy Moore recalls 'underage drinking' with Macaulay Culkin

Mandy Moore has recalled "underage drinking" with Macaulay Culkin when they filmed Saved!.
The 42-year-old actress shot the 2004 teen comedy in Canada - where the legal age for consuming alcohol is 19 - and the Home Alone actor was one of the few younger cast members old enough to drink, but still introduced his co-stars, which included Jena Malone and Eva Amurri, to White Russian cocktails.
Speaking to Evan Ross Katz on his Netflix show Shut Up, Evan, Mandy said: "I do remember a little bit of underage drinking. As it happened, I was like, 'Look, I didn't go to high school.' I was 18.
"I think it was Mac, Macaulay, that introduced me and all of us to a White Russian. I was like, 'Milk and alcohol? This is made for me, I love this! This is like ice cream, this is fantastic!'"
But Mandy insisted the teenage cast weren't out to cause too much trouble and she had a great time making the film.
She said: "I distinctly remember the sweet, innocent -- like, we would take giant marshmallows and throw them at people off the balcony.
"We were kids! We weren't really getting up to no good.
"It was a crazy, crazy life-changing experience."
In Saved!, the This Is Us actress played Hilary, the self-righteous best friend of main character Mary (Malone), who had sex with her ex-boyfriend Dean (Chad Faust) to "save" him from being gay, only to get pregnant. Macaulay, now 45, played Mandy's disabled older brother Roland.
And Mandy took on the role because she felt it would help open the door to a wider variety of roles.
She said: "I just loved the script and the character, and I thought it was really irreverent and funny, and also like gonna move the needle. But it also felt so wholly different than who I am that I was like, 'Oh this is a stretch, and this is unlike anything I've done before. So hopefully, very intentionally, this'll open up a door to other projects,' like people regarding me in a different light."
This isn't the first time Mandy has spoken of how much she enjoyed the "summer camp" experience of working on Saved!.
She told People magazine: "I'm bombarded with memories of set. We all were staying at the same hotel together while we were shooting, and I just remember all the time we would spend with each other in one another's rooms. Like, 'Okay, we're all going to Jena's room today.' Or, 'Oh, we're all going to Eva's room today, or Mac's room,' and we made dinners or we ordered food and we just hung out.
"It was like we were all 17, 18 years old, maybe some of us were a little bit older, but it was such a fun summer camp experience. And we knew that it was a really weird, special, little tiny thing. It wasn't lost on us what we were doing."
