Prince Harry could reportedly reunite with King Charles at Balmoral this summer.

Harry, 41, has not seen his father face-to-face so far this year, according to reports, although rumours are mounting the duke may return to the UK ahead of the 2027 Invictus Games in BirminghamAs speculation continues to swirl over the state of relations inside the royal family following years of public fallout, security disputes and the Duke of Sussex's increasingly rare visits to Britain.

The Invictus event - founded by Harry in 2014 for wounded and injured military veterans - is expected to hold a one-year countdown event this summer, potentially giving Harry an opportunity to meet Charles, 77, away from public scrutiny. Recent meetings between father and son have reportedly taken place at Clarence House in London, but royal author Ingrid Seward has now suggested Balmoral Castle in Scotland could provide a more discreet setting, particularly if Harry's wife Meghan Markle, 44, and their children Archie, seven, and Lilibet, four, accompany him to the UK.

"The only place that really I think they could meet if the King is to get to know or at least see his grandchildren, is at Balmoral," Ingrid told The Mirror.

"It's the only time the King has time and the Sussexes could be accommodated there because there's lots of cottages on the Estate."

Ingrid added that Balmoral could also ease concerns surrounding security, which Harry has repeatedly raised in interviews and legal proceedings linked to his UK protection arrangements.

She told the Daily Mirror: "The only place that really I think they could meet if the King is to get to know or at least see his grandchildren, is at Balmoral.

"It's the only time the King has time and the Sussexes could be accommodated there because there's lots of cottages on the Estate."

Ingrid added Balmoral could also ease concerns surrounding security, which Harry has repeatedly raised in interviews and legal proceedings linked to his UK protection arrangements.

She said: "There wouldn't be all the drama surrounding security either because if Harry and his family are staying in a royal residence they'll get full security."

Ingrid's comments come amid continuing royal tensions following Harry's memoir Spare, his and Meghan's Netflix projects and ongoing disagreements surrounding security arrangements in Britain after the couple stepped back from royal duties in 2020.

Harry has frequently returned to Britain alone in recent years, arguing publicly he does not believe the country is currently safe enough for Meghan and their children without full police protection.

Meghan has not spent extended time in Britain since 2022, while Archie and Lilibet also last visited the UK during celebrations marking Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee that year.

The duke's relationship with the royal family has remained under intense scrutiny since the release of Netflix documentary Harry and Meghan and his memoir Spare, in which Harry detailed disagreements with members of the monarchy including Prince William, 43.

Discussions around reconciliation have intensified since Charles announced his cancer diagnosis in early 2024, with Harry travelling to London shortly afterwards for a brief meeting with his father.

Charles and Queen Camilla, 79, traditionally spend part of the summer at Balmoral Castle, the late Queen Elizabeth II's beloved Scottish residence.

The estate has long been viewed as one of the royal family's most private retreats, historically used for family gatherings away from London.
