SAN DIEGO — Grammy Award-winner Andra Day is hitting the road for a late-summer tour that will include a Sept. 18 homecoming performance at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay. The singer and Oscar nominated actress — a 2003 San Diego School of Creative & Performing Arts graduate — made her Humphreys debut in 2016. She has not done a major tour since then.

Day’s 2024 tour will open Aug. 9 in Atlanta and conclude Sept. 24 in Seattle. It is in support of her second solo album, “Cassandra (Cherith),”which was released May 10. The 16-song collection is the follow-up to her 2015 debut album, “Cheers to the Fall.”

In 2021, Day earned a best actress Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe Award for her performance in the title role in “The United States vs. Billie Holiday.” (Her stage name, Day, is an homage to jazz and blues vocal legend Holiday.) Day is the featured artist on the film's soundtrack album as well.

This will be Day’s first major national concert tour in seven years. She stars in the upcoming film, “The Deliverance.” It is directed by Lee Daniels, who also directed “The United States vs. Billie Holiday.” “The Deliverance” will open in theaters Aug. 16 and begin streaming on Netflix Aug. 30.

Tickets will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. local time to the general public for all the shows on Day’s tour.

There will be several presales. The first starts at 10 a.m. local time Wednesday for Citi card members. A Spotify presale will begin Thursday at noon local time (the password is: Cassandra), It will be preceded by a 10 a.m. presale on ticketmaster.com (for which the password is: GV2024).
