'THE NORTHMAN'

Rated R for strong bloody violence, some sexual content and nudity.

What it’s about: A gritty, historically accurate retelling of the Scandinavian myth of Amleth, a bloody revenge tale.

The kid attractor factor: Not much, this is heavy-duty and violent Viking lore. Maybe some appeal for teens.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Fate is inevitable and death is divine

Violence: Extreme gory violence throughout. This is a tale of a warrior seeking revenge for his father's death and wreaking havoc. There is extreme violence including stabbing, arrows, dismembering, disemboweling, etc

Language: None

Sex: One sex scene and references to sex and sexual violence, a couple of scenes that include nudity.

Drugs: A hallucinatory mushroom trip.

Parents’ advisory: This is very violent and not appropriate for kids. OK for mature teens.
