'AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH'

Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, bloody images, some strong language, thematic elements and suggestive material.

What it’s about: The third installment in the "Avatar" saga sees Jake Sully and his Na'vi clan continuing to fight to protect Pandora, with the added complication of another warlike Na'vi tribe arriving to fight.

The kid attractor factor: Kids will be attracted to the action spectacle and characters.

Good lessons/bad lessons: It's up to us to protect vulnerable natural resources and learn to live in harmony with the planet and each other.

Violence: Action and peril, fighting, shooting with guns, arrows, animals committing violence and violence against animals, fire, danger, bloody images, etc.

Language: Some strong language.

Sex: References to sex and sexual situations.

Drugs: Some hallucinogenic drugs consumed in indigenous ritual.

Parents’ advisory: A bit too scary and violent for younger kids. OK for older kids and teens.

'THE HOUSEMAID'

 

Rated R for strong/bloody violent content, sexual assault, sexual content, nudity and language.

What it’s about: A young woman takes a new job as a live-in housemaid for a wealthy family and finds not all is what it seems on the surface.

The kid attractor factor: This is an erotic crime thriller — not for kids.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Karma is always lurking.

Violence: Some strong bloody violence and images — fighting, stabbing, torture, etc. — as well as a scene of sexual violence.

Language: Swearing and strong language throughout.

Sex: Several sex scenes and some nudity.

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: Too sexual and violent for kids. OK for older teens.
