Jamie Campbell Bower sympathised with his Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power co-stars who had to wear lots of prosthetics.

The 37-year-old actor plays Celeborn in the upcoming third season of Amazon Prime Video's fantasy epic, and his character spends some time with Orcs, which reminded Jamie of his own time as Vecna on Stranger Things.

He told SFX magazine: "I mean, the practical make-up effect side, having been in heavy prosthetics [as Vecna], I deeply feel for those people.

"I'm always making sure they're okay because I know how it feels."

Jamie compared being on set for Rings of Power to a child stepping into a "beautiful garden" and being blown away by the sights.

He explained: "When you're a child, and you enter into a beautiful garden, and you are so overwhelmed by the colour, there's a beauty there.

"Kids in those experiences say the most incredible things. Doing this is like stepping into your very own personal fantasy. It's incredible.

"Stepping into the Moonlit Glade for the first episode, it was a huge soundstage.

"It had living trees. You leave it for a week, it's become its very own ecosystem. You're able to play in the entire space, which is so powerful."

Now part of the Lord of the Rings franchise, Jamie was previously attached to star in a cancelled Game of Thrones prequel.

He pointed out that something like Rings of Power has a "really specific" layer of responsibility because of J.R.R. Tolkien's work.

He explained: "Each world that you step into has its own unique flavour. The vibe and the feeling of being on a set comes from the top down - the directors and showrunners.

"But what's a very unique experience with regards to text-based work is you've got somebody above that, the author, and Tolkien created this world that is so magical, honest, pure, loving.

"That is really specific to working on The Lord of the Rings."

Meanwhile, Jamie's sympathy for the Rings of Power Orcs makes sense, after prosthetics expert Barrie Gower previously revealed the actor was on set almost round-the-clock when the make-up department were first getting to grips with his Vecna look on Stranger Things.

He told PEOPLE magazine: "We could be starting at 1am, 2am to get him ready for 8am or 9am. We would have a whole shooting day of, maybe a 10 to 12 hours. Then we would be de-rigging him two hours in the evening.

"By the time they got to the fourth season, the production team was so experienced and so on it."
