'The Pitt' star Noah Wyle named People's 'Sexiest Man Alive'

The doctor is in, and he’s been named People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” this year.
The magazine on Tuesday awarded the annual accolade to Noah Wyle, who stars as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in HBO’s award-winning medical drama “The Pitt.” The 55-year-old actor revealed he was shocked to be named 2026’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” so much so that he actually thought it was joke at first.
“I thought that sounded like a prank — just not in a million years did I think that this would be an honor bestowed on me,” Wyle told People.
“I hope this changes everything,” he joked. “I hope it’s just wine and roses, milk and honey from here on out. No, I don’t, but I am going to take a lot of ribbing from friends and family for sure.”
Wyle shares son Owen, 23, and daughter Auden, 21, with his ex,Tracy Warbin, as well as daughter Frances, 11, with Sara Wyle, to whom he has been married since 2014. He joked that his wife “is pleased” he received the honor, adding that it “reflects well on her taste.”
Wyle first found fame in the '90s, starring as doctor John Carter on NBC’s “ER” alongside George Clooney, Anthony Edwards, Eric LaSalle, Sherry Stringfield and Julianna Margulies. Though he never won, he was nominated for three Golden Globes and five Emmys before the series wrapped in 2009. Then, some 16 years later, Wyle made his return to the hospital as Dr. Robby in “The Pitt,” which has so far earned him four Emmys, including two trophies for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. The role has also won him a Golden Globe.
“I was so hoping today was going to be the day. ‘Look at you. You’re the Sexiest Man Alive. Finally you can be comfortable in your own skin,'” he told People. “Not yet. I like being in other people’s skin. I like putting on characters. I get self-conscious. It’s still the hardest kind of interaction for me, speaking without a script as myself.”
“The Pitt” first premiered on HBO back in 2025, with the second season hitting small screens earlier this year. Season 3 is set to premiere in January 2027.
“Up until now, we’ve plotted our show almost in real time when people are watching,” he told Deadline of the upcoming episodes back in July. “We’ve written the shows eight months before we air, but we’ve written them to take place in the time and place in which they are being watched this season. We didn’t do that this season. What we’re depicting is Thursday, November 12, 2026, and it will be aired in January of 2027.”
