FORT WORTH, Texas — One of country music’s biggest stars is getting an exhibit at a Fort Worth museum.

The National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame announced Tuesday that “Miranda Lambert: Velvet Rodeo” will be the inaugural exhibition at its new Icons Gallery, which opens Nov. 7. The gallery is part of the museum’s new 16,000-square-foot expansion; the venue will shut its doors Oct. 19 to prepare for the reopening.

Lambert worked with the museum on the exhibit, which features the one-of-a-kind wardrobe she wore during her “Velvet Rodeo” residency in Las Vegas.

“When I first visited the National Cowgirl Museum, I was so inspired by all of the amazing Western pieces on display that I sent a bunch of photos to my stylist, Tiffany. We mixed that inspiration with the heyday of Elvis to create the ‘Velvet Rodeo’ wardrobe,” Lambert said in a press release. “Seeing these pieces now have a life beyond the stage as part of the museum’s new Icons Gallery feels really full circle and special.”

Lambert was inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame in 2021 for her contribution to country music.

“Miranda’s confidence, determination and independence make her a wonderful representative of the women we honor,” museum executive director Pat Riley said in a press release. “Opening our Icons Gallery with this collaboration celebrates her accomplishments while giving visitors a new way to connect with a cowgirl they know and admire.”

The museum points out that Lambert’s “Velvet Rodeo” wardrobe was mainly seen in motion and under stage lights during the residency. Now, visitors will be able to see the garb up close.

“Miranda’s ‘Velvet Rodeo’ styling was inspired by historic garments from iconic western tailors which she saw on display at the museum,” museum curator Ashley Kowalski said. “We are honored to give her residency wardrobe a new stage where the collection can be appreciated in its entirety.”

Lambert was recently in Fort Worth at Billy Bob’s Texas for an album release show for “Crisco,” her record that came out Oct. 2.
