Alan Ritchson reflected on not feeling "worthy of love" amid the end of his 20-year marriage.

The Reacher actor and his spouse Catherine - who have Calem, 13, Edan, 12, and 10-year-old Amory together - revealed earlier this month they had gone their separate ways, and now the 43-year-old star has reflected on the importance of "learning to love yourself" instead of constantly worrying about trying to be better in some way.

He said in a video shared to Instagram: "Here's some post-sauna clarity for ya. Today I want to talk about learning to love yourself and how I think this could be the great antidote to our times and the frustration that many of us feel.

"You know, the world bombards us with so many messages, each day, about how we're not quite enough, right?

"If we just bought this thing or if we were not sober we'd be more fun, more relational, we'd be better friends, you know? If we had this or that material thing we'd be worth more to the world and more worthy of love, right? It's kind of the message that capitalism teaches us and it's hard in western cultures to get rid of that lie."

The former couple announced their separation in a joint statement earlier this month, in which they vowed to be the "strongest co-parents" possible to their three sons.

Their statement read: "After twenty years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way.

"We grew up together. We built a life and family together. And we are raising three incredible boys who will always be the centre of our world.

"Nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us - or the love and respect we will always share.

"The best gift we can give one another - and our boys - right now is friendship, grace and commitment to becoming the strongest co-parents we can be. (sic)"

The Smallville actor and the financial analyst want to navigate their new lives as singletons and co-parents privately.

They continued: "We also want to give each other room to grow into the people we are becoming.

"Change is hard enough without the world weighing in. We hope, especially for the sake of our boys, that you will allow our family to move through this chapter with privacy and compassion.

"Thank you for supporting us as we continue making the health and happiness of our family our priority - Cat and Alan (sic)."

According to legal documents obtained by the Daily Mail, the War Machine star initially filed for divorce from Catherine on December 1, 2025, citing "irreconcilable differences", before they reconciled on March 4 this year.

The pair first dated after they met during a ballet class in Florida when Alan was 17 and Catherine was 16.

On a 2023 episode of The Road to Wisdom podcast, Catherine recalled: "I'll never forget seeing him for the first time in the [dance] studio. I turned to my friend Miriam, and I said, 'Who is that?'

"He, at some point, came up to me and we just got chatting."

Years after their brief teenage romance ended, Alan and Catherine reconnected when she was in college.

They got engaged in 2005 and tied the knot the following May.
