Kat Dennings is set to reunite with 2 Broke Girls co-star Beth Behrs on Shifting Gears.

The 40-year-old actress, who leads the ABC sitcom alongside Tim Allen as father and daughter duo Matt and Riley, is returning for a third season, and she'll be working with a very familiar face.

Beth has been cast in a guest role for the new season, playing an emergency room doctor who treats Riley for a back injury.

Season 3 of Shifting Gears is set to premiere early in 2027, but no airdates have been confirmed.

Kat and Beth starred together as best friends Max Black and Caroline Channing in 2 Broke Girls, which ran for six seasons from 2011 to 2017.

The sitcom followed the lives of the odd couple pairing, who rented the same apartment and both work at a local diner but had very different upbringings.

While Caroline was raised as the daughter of a billionaire, Max's family life was poor and dysfunctional.

In recent years, Kat has appeared in the likes of WandaVision and Thor: Love and Thunder as part of the MCU, while Beth has a leading role in The Neighborhood, which ran for eight seasons before its finale in May this year.

Shifting Gears returned for a second season in October 2025, and featured a reunion for Tim Allen, with his Home Improvement co-stars Patricia Richardson, Richard Karn and Debbie Dunning all appearing in the premiere.

When the sitcom first launched, has some big goals in mind for his new show Shifting Gears.

He told Entertainment Tonight: "I am very excited. You know, I tried really hard with 'Home Improvement', and then 'Last Man Standing'.

"Maybe three's a charm! Maybe I can finally make a statement with this.

"It was a big event for me, 'cause I really loved Home Improvement, [so] to do Last Man Standing was a big push, and then I love that family so much.

"But then ABC said, 'If you come up with an idea,' and I said, 'If I did it, it would be this.' And we came up with this idea, and we're getting there."

The show follows Matt, whose whole life got turned upside down in the first season when his estranged daughter Riley - and her own children - come to live with him, which is when "the real restoration begins".
