Shawn Mendes has thanked his girlfriend for "truly changing" his life while going public with their relationship.

The Stitches singer took to Instagram to wish Bruna Marquezine a happy 31st birthday, sharing a video of his other half walking into what appeared to be a surprise party.

She was greeted by a group of children at the bottom of the stairs, and beamed from ear to ear as they crowded round her for a hug.

Alongside the videos, as well as a picture of Bruna, Shawn wrote: "Feliz aniversário [happy birthday] my baby

"You are a light and a mãe [mother] in every room you walk into.

"Not to be tooooo sappy but you've truly changed my life, and I am so so grateful for you."

The 27-year-old then added a cute message in Portuguese, writing "Eu te amo muito muito muitoo [I love you so, so, so much]."

He concluded: "We all do, amor…[my love]."

Shawn also thanked Casa Amarela Providencia in Rio de Janeiro for "what you're doing". The organisation is described on Instagram as what translates to a "centre for art, culture and education".

The musician additionally shared a snap of himself and Bruna posing together at the Casa Amarela Providencia on his Instagram Stories.

Shawn's relationship with Bruna was first reported last December (25) by the New York Post's Page Six.

They've since been photographed in the U.S. and Brazil, Bruna's home country.

The romance comes after Shawn's previous public relationship with Señorita collaborator Camila Cabello, who he dated on and off from 2019 to 2023.

He was also romantically linked to Sabrina Carpenter in February 2023, although the relationship was never confirmed.

Shawn opened up about the "pressure" of finding 'The One' to fans at a concert in 2024, as he told the crowd: "When you're single, there's this pressure of looking for 'The One,' who's 'The One?'... Damn, that's a lot of pressure to put on someone when you first start dating.

"For me, I've just been trying to take that pressure off of whoever, and just allow myself to experience the love that is happening in that moment, wherever and however that's happening. Man, we all need a little bit of cuddling, a little bit of hugging."
