“The Exorcist” actress Linda Blair is reflecting on the recent raid on her property in Southern California, where she runs a large-scale kennel operation for rescue dogs.

Blair took to Instagram Tuesday just days after her property was searched as part of a joint operation between the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) and the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning. She told her followers she was just “checking in” after the “bizarre event,” which resulted in “massive worldwide press for the animals.” The 74-year-old actress also thanked everyone for their ongoing support.

“This has been quite the experience, and I look at it as a positive,” she said in the clip. “We now have more light shed on animal welfare and animal rescue and the plight of the animals than ever before.”

In the caption, Blair added: “Stop animal cruelty and animal abuse! We have the ability [to live] together with compassion in a cruelty free world!”

Scores of officials and law enforcement officers descended on Blair’s home on Friday to probe allegations that there were upwards of 100 rescue dogs living on the property without proper documentation. DACC at the time said it wanted to verify the kennel operation’s compliance with county codes as well as ensure “the safety and well-being of both the animals on the property and the people who may be working or residing here.”

While Blair previously had a permit for her kennel facility, the DACC said it expired back in 2023. It further explained that officials from both departments tried to contact the actress and activist on several occasions without success, prompting their surprise visit over the weekend.

“Regional Planning made nine separate attempts to schedule an inspection of the property, and DACC made an additional 15 attempts over a period of three years to contact the property owner to conduct its own inspection,” the agency said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. “All attempts by both departments went unanswered, leaving the County no alternative but to seek a judicial warrant to proceed.”

After rising to fame with her star turn in 1973’s “The Exorcist,” Blair later took a step back from the spotlight and in 2003 founded the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation. The nonprofit organization was established to “alleviate suffering, while rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming abused, neglected and abandoned animals,” according to its website.

Blair has not been accused of committing any crimes and no dogs were removed from her property. In a previous Instagram video, Blair said fixing the issue was just a matter of getting her paperwork sorted.
