Ben Affleck and 31-time “Jeopardy!” champion Jamie Ding joined forces and together dominated on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?”

The duo claimed the $1 million grand prize after they correctly answered the 15th and final question during Wednesday night’s episode of the long-running ABC game show. Ding and the Oscar-winner started off with just two questions left to answer, picking up where last week’s episode ended.

The $500,000 question read: “What achievement occurred just two months after a New York Times article said it wouldn’t happen for ‘1 million to 10 million years?'”

Possible answers included splitting the atom, cloning a mammal, the first airplane flight, or the polio vaccine.

Ding quickly suggested the correct choice was option C, the first flight, and Affleck almost immediately agreed.

“I only remember this because it was a time in my life where I spent time looking up examples that the press got things wrong. Yeah, just randomly,” Affleck explained. “And I sort of, vaguely, in my subconscious remember the Times and the Wright brothers and that whole thing was 1905, 3 or 4, or something.”

Ding corrected him — “I think 03,” he said — prompting host Jimmy Kimmel to quip that he was “so much smarter” than Affleck’s longtime pal, Matt Damon. Affleck’s frequent collaborator competed on the show last year alongside another “Jeopardy!” star, Ken Jennings, and they too won $1 million.

Despite their inklings, neither Affleck nor Ding were confident enough to lock in their answer. Instead they used their 50/50 lifeline, leaving them with two choices: splitting the atom or the first flight. They then chose the first airplane flight correctly, bringing them to the final round.

“In an annual Thanksgiving tradition, all but which of these have been the names of turkeys pardoned by a U.S. president?” the last question read, with possible answers including Peanut Butter & Jelly, Tater & Tot, Mac & Cheese, and Spaghetti & Meatball.

“You must be kidding me,” Affleck said before suggesting they use their Ask the Host lifeline. Kimmel had a hunch the answer was “Spaghetti and Meatball,” but he wasn’t sure. The duo then used Jamie’s Phone-a-Friend, but it proved unhelpful. In the end, though, Ding and Affleck correctly chose “Spaghetti and Meatball,” earning them the elusive grand prize.

The money will go toward Affleck’s foundation, the Eastern Congo Initiative.
