Mila Kunis had "fun" as the co-host of Live with Kelly and Mark.

The 42-year-old actress stood in for Kelly Ripa on the latest episode of Live, the long-running TV chat show, and Mila has admitted to relishing the experience, explaining that it's unlike anything she's previously done.

The Hollywood star - who is married to actor Ashton Kutcher - said on air: "I have to tell you, I'm never on this side of anything. And so, given the power that I can talk about anything I want, it's too much power for one person to have."

Mila subsequently revealed that Ashton, 48, had joined her on set, because he wanted to show his support.

The actress shared: "I love that you gasped that my husband's backstage. He is backstage, guys. He's really real, and he's here."

Mila then pointed to her husband, who was stood off stage.

The Black Swan star said: "There he is! He's so happy right now. Hi, babe!"

Mila hosted the show because Kelly is currently recovering from gum graft surgery.

The 55-year-old TV star has missed this week's episodes of Live, and Mark Consuelos, her husband and co-host, recently spoke about Kelly's absence.

He said: "There's a list of things you are not allowed to do. [No] talking, she has to eat soft food, can't suck out of a straw. You can't examine it, which means pulling down the lip.

"Last night, she was like, 'Can you look?' And I'm like, 'I'm not pulling your lip down.'"

Gum graft surgery treats thinning gums or gum recession, and reduces the risk of severe gum disease.

Mark explained: "Her dentist said five years ago, 'You could do it in about five years.' And she said, 'I didn't know I would still be on the air in five years'. But the one thing about it -- she is doing well, doing great -- she is not allowed to talk."

The TV star explained that while Kelly is normally resistant to pain, she has been feeling particularly sore after her surgery.

He said: "It's painful. But she famously does not feel pain. When she goes into the dentist, she doesn't use the novocain. But this one hurts, so I know it's bad."
