NEW YORK — Jaime King has addressed speculation swirling around her relationship with Taylor Swift after her absence from the pop star’s gala wedding to Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce.

Hundreds of celebrities and A-listers flocked to New York City for the Fourth of July weekend to celebrate Swift’s nuptials with her Super Bowl-winning beau at Madison Square Garden — but the 47-year-old actress and model was notably not among them. Her absence sparked rumors of a rift between the longtime friends, prompting the “Hart of Dixie” alum to set the record straight on how she feels about the “Fortnight” singer, who is godmother to her son Leo, 10.

“The reason Jaime chose Taylor as Leo Thames’s godmother is because they both believe that being a godmother is a deeply personal and spiritual commitment that has nothing to do with public appearances,” King’s publicist, Jane Owen, told E! News. “Leo Thames is still too young for a large adult wedding celebration, but he and his mother were able to joyfully celebrate Taylor and Kelce’s marriage in his own very special, age-appropriate way during his summer break.”

Swift and King first connected at the Golden Globes back in 2014, and the duo quickly became close friends. The following year, she asked Swift to be the godmother of her son, who she shares with ex-husband Kyle Newman. They welcomed Leo in 2015, some two years after King gave birth to their firstborn, James Knight.

“I always thought if I were to have another child that she would be the ideal godmother because of the way she not only treats me but the way she treats other human beings,” King told E! News at the time. “She’s so loving and so giving and so generous and she does everything from her heart and she’s incredibly brave and authentic. It’s a very rare thing to come across.”

The actress added: “I know that [our baby] will always have a very good person and role model through her.”

Swift celebrated the honor on Instagram, but it was later deleted alongside all of her other posts as part of her “Reputation” era rebrand.

Despite the fact that the two women haven’t been seen together in public for a while, King revealed her feelings about Swift’s relationship back in November, shortly after she became engaged to Kelce.

“I’m f—ing stoked,” she told Us Weekly in November. “This is absolutely, this is the person. This is her person.”
