Halle Berry has credited her latest X-rated product with "changing her sex life".

The 59-year-old actress has been candid about the impact of menopause, and now she has turned her attention to helping women reclaim their sexuality with a vaginal dryness gel treatment called Juicy Like A peach.

Halle, who compared the product "to what Viagra does for men", told PEOPLE magazine: "It allows us to maintain our moisture, to have pain-free sex so that we can feel confident and be spontaneous again.

"It's changed my sex life. I have my confidence back. I'm always ready now."

The Oscar winning star, who has teamed up with Joylux for the product, insisted that her "goal" was to help women "feel like themselves again".

She added: "That was always my goal, 'How do I find that juice again?'

"And that I connected to my youthful years when I was always juicy, juices were flowing constantly.

"And I desperately wanted that feeling again. I desperately wanted to reclaim my sexuality, my intimacy, I wanted to feel confident again."

The product, which has been cleared by the FDA, works by creating a breathable moisture-retention barrier, which in turns helps maintain comfort, reduce dryness, and relieve painful sex.

Halle said: "It's what we're all hoping for, Because that's what this new technology actually does. It really does make you, I kid you not, drippy, juicy like a peach."

The Hollywood star admitted she had a "rude awakening" when she was "plummeted into perimenopause" without any education.

She had experienced symptoms for a decade, but didn't realise they were all related to each other.

Halle explained: "None of my doctors uttered a word about menopause, perimenopause, change of life, nothing.

"They all just kept telling me, 'You look great.' They never told me that no matter what you look like, your hormones are changing and your insides are aging."

Halle is known to be open about her sex life, and earlier this year she revealed one line she'll never cross in the bedroom.

Appearing on the Sex With Emily podcast, Halle said: "We had to get there so that he felt good about bringing us to orgasm.

"We had to say that we did it so that he would feel good about himself. Because what is that doing? That's putting his needs before our own.

"I'm like, 'No, I come first like you come first to you.'

"We both deserve to have this be a mutually enjoyable experience, so we both can roll over and go to sleep because we feel good -- not one snoring and the other one looking at the ceiling, going, 'What the hell?' "
