Olivia Rodrigo has bought a home in London so she can spend more time in the UK.

The 23-year-old pop star - who was born and raised in California - has been open about her love for the UK after spending a lot of time in the capital and she's now bought her first property there.

Olivia told the BBC: ""I'd love to hang out in London more, honestly. I actually just got a place here, which is exciting.

"I hope I can be here for long stretches of time and experience all the English pleasures."

The Sun newspaper reports Olivia splashed out seven figures on a property "in an upmarket area" of London.

An insider added: "Olivia wants to spend more time in London as she feels treated like a normal person here. There's not the same celebrity circus as in the US.

"When she's here, she lives like a normal girl in her early twenties - going to coffee shops and bars, taking long walks. It's what she needs to live an authentic life and make real music."

The You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love star - who previously dated London-born actor Louis Partridge - previously opened up about her love of London to the BBC, telling the outlet she feels able to live a normal life whenever she's in the UK.

Olivia explained: "I feel so normal here, very adult. I can walk to the pub and meet friends. It's a city where spontaneity is really encouraged.

"People are very social here, in a way that they're not in Southern California."

Olivia has even learned how to cope with the rain in Britain. She joked: "It wouldn't be a proper English summer without it."

The singer has also confessed she feels like she's the "best version" of herself in London after writing a huge chunk of her new album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, there,.

She told Dazed: "I'm the best version of myself when I'm there. I wrote lots of the album in London; lots [of it] was inspired by my time there. Maybe it's because it rains so much that all you want to do is be inside with the guitar and write."

Olivia has also admitted to feeling inspired by Manchester, the home of bands such as Oasis, The Smiths, Joy Division, and The Stone Roses.

She said: "I spent some time in Manchester a few years ago and it was so rainy I was like, 'No wonder so many great bands come out of Manchester!'"
