Ed Sheeran has announced he's taking a break from music to "do the dad thing".

The 35-year-old singer took to the stage in Glendale, Arizona, on Saturday night (13.06.26) as part of his LOOP tour, and paused to talk to the crowd in between songs.

Telling them they "may not see him again for a while", Ed added: "This is gonna be my last time here in a while. I might take some time off once this tour has ended and sort of do the dad thing.

"So if I don't see you for a while, I love you, thank you for coming."

Ed is dad to Lyra, five, and four-year-old Jupiter with wife Cherry Seaborn, and previously said he'd like to add another daughter to their family mix.

He told the Daily Star: "I dunno I think maybe I want another girl. They are so fun, it's up and down, when they're tantrumming it's real!

"They're so close in age they're like locked in. If you have them close together, like it was chaotic, then so good because they play together, bath together and go to school together, everything is locked in."

Ed also told the publication that when he's out with his kids and people ask for selfies with him, it's a "blanket no".

He said: "If I'm with them I will say no to pictures because one time really early on I was with Lyra and someone asked for a selfie and as it was being taken she fell over. I'm like 'I'm not being a dad here'.

"So now it's a blanket no. People usually get it, sometimes people can be rude. But it's far more important I'm being a dad to my daughter than a pop star to anyone else."

Ed kicked off his tour in January in New Zealand, and it won't conclude until his last performance in Tampa, Florida, on November 7.

This won't be the first time Ed has taken a break from the music industry - he previously had one in 2015 and then again between 2019 to 2021.
