Freya Skye reveals why she suffered 'impostor syndrome'

Freya Skye has suffered "impostor syndrome" at times in her career.
The 16-year-old singer has opened up about her experience of performing on the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour, which also featured the likes of Ed Sheeran, Zara Larsson and Olivia Dean, and Freya admits that she initially felt a little uncomfortable amid the star-studded line-up.
Freya told Billboard: "I felt a lot of impostor syndrome [being] surrounded by these established artists that I'm inspired by."
However, Freya's nerves melted away when she took to the stage for the first time.
She said: "I started singing the first chorus, and people knew the words. I was so taken aback. I was like, 'The song's been out for three days!"
Freya released her single Silent Treatment in December, and she's admitted to being amazed by her own chart success.
The singer explained: "I woke up and there was a text from my team saying, 'Freya, you've made it onto the Billboard Hot 100'.
"Look at the names that I'm surrounded by: They're the people who I used to sing songs in the car with my family with. They're the people who I have grown up with."
Despite this, Freya is keen to make new fans and broaden her appeal.
The teenage star admits that she still has a lot of work ahead of her, despite her recent success.
She said: "It's one of my favourite things when I see someone saying, 'Who is she?' It excites me. I'm like, 'There's so many more people I have the opportunity to reach and find.' Maybe it's meant as an insult, but I find it quite thrilling."
Meanwhile, Freya previously highlighted Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo as two of her biggest inspirations.
Speaking to Capital Buzz about a song she wished she'd written, Freya replied: "One right now that I'm really obsessed with and think is so brilliant is a song called things i wish you said by Sabrina Carpenter. I love that song. I wish that that had been me."
Freya also revealed her admiration for Olivia.
The pop star said: "She is a huge inspiration. I've loved her since High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and now the music is so cool."
