Sydney Sweeney's cameo reportedly cut from 'Devil Wears Prada 2'

Sydney Sweeney’s cameo scene has reportedly been scrapped from the sequel to the “Devil Wears Prada.”
Rumors that 28-year-old Sweeney would appear in the “Devil Wears Prada 2” started to swirl last year, after she was photographed on the film’s set in New York. Other notable names — including Simone Ashley, Lady Gaga, Lucy Liu and Justin Theroux, Pauline Chalamet and Kenneth Branagh — are also slated to appear in the film, which stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt.
“There were a lot of photos from the set of various people,” writer Aline Brosh McKenna told ScreenRant.
“And then there were those memes, where it was like, ‘So-and-so is in the movie. So-and-so is in the movie,'” she continued. “It became a running joke about who people had seen on set and were in the movie.”
Sweeney was set to appear as herself in a scene involving Blunt’s character, Emily, but a “creative decision” was made to cut it, a source told E! News.
“The Devil Wears Prada 2” reunites Hathaway’s Andy Sachs, now an accomplished journalist, with her former “Runway” colleagues, Miranda Priestly and Nigel Kipling, played by Streep and Tucci, respectively. Together they seek out Emily’s help to save the fashion magazine amid a complicated media landscape.
Sweeney’s scene reportedly featured her being dressed by Blunt’s character, who has risen the fashion ranks to head of Dior’s United States operation. It was about three minutes in length, but it did not “work structurally with the rest of the sequence,” E! News reported.
“The Devil Wears Prada 2,” a follow-up to the 2006 original, is set to hit theaters in May 2026.
