Lindsey Buckingham was attacked by a woman outside a building.

The assault against the Fleetwood Mac icon, 76, happened in Santa Monica this week, in what police sources have described as an incident involving a suspected stalker.

Lindsey was arriving for an appointment on Wednesday (01.04.26) when a woman approached and threw an unidentified substance at him before fleeing the scene, according to NBC 4 Los Angeles.

Law enforcement sources said the suspect had previously been known to Lindsey in connection with earlier incidents.

He was not injured in the attack.

Both the Los Angeles Police Department and Santa Monica Police Department are investigating, and an arrest is expected.

The incident follows a restraining order granted to Lindsey in 2024 against a 53-year-old woman named Michelle, although authorities have not confirmed whether she was involved in this week's events.

Details of that earlier case emerged during court proceedings in December 2024, where Lindsey described a series of alleged incidents involving harassment.

He told the court his stalker had left "long drawn-out messages" that included the claim "that she was my child and threats to kill me and my family".

He added: "I now know that the 911 call was traced to (Michelle's) phone and was the latest in an unabated pattern of harassment and threatening acts against my family and me."

According to court documents, Lindsey alleged the woman had contacted his wife, Kristen Buckingham after obtaining her business phone number in 2021.

He said she had made repeated calls and claims about her identity. Lindsey told the court he had no personal connection to her.

In his testimony, Lindsey also described an incident in which police were called to his home following a report involving his son, William Buckingham.

Officers attended the property, searched for evidence of a reported emergency and later determined the call to be false.

Lindsey said the woman had previously been warned by police to cease contact in 2022 but returned in 2024, allegedly leaving materials outside his home.

The court granted a five-year restraining order requiring her to remain 100 yards away from Lindsey, Kristen and William, and prohibiting any contact.

Lindsey joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975 alongside Stevie Nicks, with whom he had a personal and professional relationship during the band's most successful period, including the release of Rumours.
