American Girl is thanking front-line heroes for their continued work amid the coronavirus pandemic with a new initiative, and the dolls have received some new outfits in the process.

The new look is part of the Mattel brand's #ThankYouHeroes initiative, which other products including Barbie and Fisher-Price have also been involved in.

"American Girl thanks and honors the courageous and compassionate heroes who have risked their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic," reads the description on the website. "Whether you're providing health care, keeping families stocked with food and supplies, or making sure cities keep running, we owe you a huge thanks."

Among the ways the brand is inviting people to say thank you are the #ThankYouHeroes doll scrubs that are available for preorder.

Every outfit sold will lead American Girl to donate a doll craft activity book to First Responders Children's Foundation. The books will support children of first responders on the front lines of the pandemic in the U.S. The donations will be given for up to $135,000.

The outfits cost $24 and include:

- A pair of pink scrubs pants and a colorful paint splatter scrubs top

- A pair of comfortable light blue slip-on shoes

- A fabric face mask

Dolls are not included with the outfit. The scrubs are available while supplies last and will begin shipping in August.

Aside from the dolls, the brand is also hosting a "Heroes With Heart" contest. Families are asked to nominate a hero - whether a nurse, grocer or delivery driver - who has made a difference in their lives. The contest is open through June 26 after which point American Girl will choose five grand prize winners.

There's also a video tutorial on how doll owners can make a no-sew mask to keep them healthy.
