For some time we've felt the midsize Volkswagen Tiguan needed a refresh, and we're happy to report that it finally arrived in Grasso's Garage. What a pleasure it was to drive and ride.

Volkswagen kept the 2026 Tiguan SEL R-Line Turbo simple, priced it right and didn’t go over the top, earning top marks. Similar to the Honda CR-V in size and design, the new Tiguan features a proven gasoline-only engine, outstanding styling, excellent interior comfort and a realistic price range for consumers keep the mass-market brand moving in the right direction.

Our 2026 Tiguan was loaded with standard features such as 20-inch alloy wheels, LED automatic headlights, heated and cooled seats, heated R-line steering wheel, and a simplified 15-inch infotainment system. VW includes 24-hour roadside assistance, a four-year/50,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty and two years or 20,000 miles of scheduled maintenance.

Powering the Tiguan is an all-gas, 2.0-liter TSI Turbo 16-valve DOHC four-cylinder engine and 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Paired with eight-speed automatic transmission, the Tiguan delivers 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This combination is plenty of power and get-up-and-go for most consumers.

Volkswagen has certainly done its homework and produced an outstanding new Tiguan. It delivers great power, excellent comfort and a unique modern styling. At a low price starting at $43K, the Volkswagen Tiguan SEL R-Line Turbo will ensure a significant uptick in sales once shoppers realize how truly great this refresh really is. Great work, VW!
