Is there something I can cling to that will help me be fearless as I finish out my life?
From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham
Q: I have never been an especially strong person. I’m strong physically, but I’m not strong emotionally. I do not have any particular disease, and I’m not given to depression as so many of my friends are, but I do fear – everything. I fear tomorrow, I fear loss of friends, and I fear that God may not accept me when it comes time to die. I go to church, but I’m fearful. Is there something I can cling to that will help me be fearless as I finish out my life? – F.N.
A: People have always lived in the bondage of fear and it is no different today. Psychiatrists have said that fear plagues people – all kinds of fear. Fear of going insane, committing suicide, being alone, fear of heart disease, cancer, disaster, or death, to name just a few. We are a nation of fearful people.
Down through the centuries in times of trouble, temptation, trial, bereavement, and crisis, God has brought courage to the hearts of those who love Him. The Bible is full of assurances of God’s help and comfort in every kind of difficulty that causes fear to arise in the human heart.
Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. Confess your sin and receive the forgiveness that Christ wants to give. He will give you faith to believe and the strength to live for Him when you will commit yourself to the Savior.
The Bible says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life” (Psalm 27:1, NKJV). Is He the Lord of your life? If not, He will be if you humble yourself before Him. You can look into the future with promise, hope, and joy – and without fear, discouragement, or despondency. Make Jesus Christ your Lord today.
