Sen. Mitch McConnell was discharged from a rehabilitation center Thursday and is continuing his recovery at home following his June hospitalization, his office announced.

McConnell said in a statement that he and his wife Elaine Chao are grateful for the well-wishes from friends, colleagues and Kentuckians, as well as the care he received from hospital staff.

However, the 84-year-old did not specify when he would return to the Senate.

“On the advice of my doctors, I’ll maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period, and I’ll continue to engage with my staff and colleagues on important Senate business,” McConnell said.

McConnell was first hospitalized June 14, and his office released few details other than he was receiving “excellent care.”

He is not seeking reelection in November, and Republican U.S. Rep. Andy Barr and Democratic candidate Charles Booker are the two candidates vying to replace him.
